The clinic aims to provide high quality outpatient psychiatric assessment and, where appropriate, psychiatric and psychological treatment.
It does this within an accessible, comfortable and safe environment. The dignity and privacy of patients is respected at all times.
The registered manager of the facility is Dr Christine Tyrie, Consultant Psychiatrist, MA, MBBS, FRCPsych, DRCOG. She also holds a diploma in Health Services Management (York1995). She is highly accomplished in her field – please take a look at her profile.
Qualified Staff
There are two part time members of administrative staff .One is on duty at all times that clinics are held. They are not involved in direct patient treatment or care.
Other professionals (psychologists/therapists) will use the facilities on a sessional basis. Private prescriptions may be provided by a suitably qualified medical practitioner.

Dr Christine M Tyrie is an independent psychiatrist working at Eastlands Clinic and also Newcastle Nuffield Hospital. Prior to this, she was Medical Director of an inpatient unit at the Nuffield Hospital. She was previously an NHS consultant in General Adult Psychiatry, having qualified MBBS in 1978 and FRCPsych 1983.
She has wide experience in Adult Psychiatry with an interest in stress, mood disorders, women’s mental health problems and also factitious disorders.

Previous Experience:
Dr Tyrie was a Senior Registrar on the Oxford rotation and did her registrar training in psychiatry in Newcastle.
Prior to her psychiatric training, she undertook SHO posts in obstetrics and gynaecology, geriatrics and orthopaedics and soft trauma, which reflects her broad-based experience.
Dr Tyrie has published letters and articles on mainly psychiatric topics as well as occasional letters and articles in Doctor, Hospital Doctor, BMA News Review and has participated in multi-centre drug trials.
She has completed the first year of a two-year course at the University of Northumbria leading to an MSc in Health Sciences (Research Methodology).
Her second year has been deferred at present due to travel problems and She has been awarded a post graduate certificate.
She has an MA in Health Care Ethics.
